Dedication and Mother's Day

May 9, 2010
This year I celebrated my very first Mother's Day as a Mommy. It was extra special because this is also the day that we dedicated Lucas at church. That means that we are making a commitment to teaching him all about following Jesus. We had quite the crowd including...all the grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, great friends and even some great grandparents! It is such a blessing to know that Lucas is surrounded by people who are followers of Christ!

It was such a crazy morning I didn't get to take any pictures but Lindsay did so I stole them from her! Thank you!

A Commitment of Parents to their Children

As parents of children who belong to the Lord, we will make every effort to train our sons and daughters in the way of the Lord, teaching them to know the Scriptures and to walk according to the principles and precepts of God's Word. By our own example and instruction, we will guide our children to follow the commands of God and hold to the hope of His promises.
We promise to teach them to love the Lord our God with all their heart and with all their soul and with all their strength, and to love others as themselves.
We will pray for our children daily and do all within our domain to lead them at the proper time to know and receive Jesus Christ ad their Lord and Savior and to dedicate their lives to serving him faithfully.

A Commitment of the Congregation to the Parents and Children

As witness of the dedication of these parents and children to the Lord, we commit ourselves to live responsible lives before them. Recognizing the influence that we have on others, we will support their commitment by the example of our own lives- demonstrating love, virtue, and faithfulness to the Lord.

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these." Mark 10:14

Andrew and Molly's Wedding

We went to Andrew and Molly Corvin's wedding when Lucas was about 2 weeks old. It was an adventure to say the least! He was sleeping at the beginning of the ceremony...until of course Molly was about to walk down the aisle. He started to wrinkle up his little face and squeak. I was terrified that he would scream as soon as she started walking. Thankfully his paci saved the day and he fell asleep for the rest of the ceremony. As soon as we got to the reception it was time for Lucas to eat. I had to find somewhere to feed him so I asked the man at the front desk if there was a room for nursing moms. I think he was confused because he said there was a changing table in the bathroom! So I and ended up in a bathroom stall..YIKES! It was a wonderful wedding full of new mommy moments for me!

Jealous

Cammy was feeling very left out when Lucas came home. One night we were swaddling him and getting ready to put him to bed. Cammy would not leave us alone so we swaddled her in Lucas' extra swaddler. This is the result. The amazing swaddler works on dogs too...she is closing her eyes and getting ready to go to sleep.

Playdate with Camden

A few days after Lucas was born my friends came to visit Lucas and brought his bff Camden for a little playdate ;). The boys didn't know what was going on but we had fun! I look forward to many more if these in the future. Love you guys!

Elise and I with our boys (This is the face of a very happy but sleep deprived mama). I can't believe we looked like this a few months ago! Lucas and Camden are about 9 weeks apart...look at the difference just 2 months can make.

Abe and G-Nana

We got cabin fever after the first few days holed up at home so we ventured out to visit Nana and Abe.

I love how big Abe's hands look holding Lucas. They make Lucas look so tiny.

Newborn Photos

We had Lucas' newborn pictures taken when he was nine days old. They were taken by Beth Simmons (you can find her blog on the right). She spent 4 1/2 hours with us. It was such a great experience. I love the pictures and I am so glad we had them taken. He already looks like a different baby!

Lucas had so many visitors....we are so glad that they all came to meet him (and to keep his mommy and daddy company!)

Our neighbor's little girl...She calls Lucas "Baby Yuke" but no one else can say that because she knows it is not the right way to say it. It is so cute! Her mommy Heather was also there but I don't have her pic.

The next two people are my amazing 2nd grade team. They are the best!

Week One

Lucas turned a week old on March 27th. This week has been the best...most exhausting week of our lives and I wouldn't have it any other way. At one week old Lucas weighs 7 lbs 2 ounces and is 20 1/2 inches long. Either he shrunk this week or someone measured wrong because he was 21 inches when he was born lol. He is eating ALL THE TIME. He sleeps for about 3-4 hours between feedings at night.Lucas wears newborn diapers and clothing (even some of these are too big).He is snuggly and sweet and I am enjoying every moment because I know the time will FLY.

Sleepy Boy
Lucas had his first bath. He loved the water but getting out ...not so much!
